Dear CNSs, Colleagues, and ANA family,

It is with deep gratitude that we announce the retirement of Jeffrey Blumberg, PhD, FACN, FASN, CNS-S from the American Nutrition Association Board of Directors. A true pioneer in nutrition science and a cornerstone of the ANA community for over three decades, Dr. Blumberg’s day-to-day work with the ANA will be missed by fellow Board members, staff, and CNSs across the world.

Dr. Blumberg joined the American College of Nutrition 39 years ago and holds the distinction “FACN-Fellow of the American College of Nutrition”. He served as a board member and then President of the Board for Certification of Nutrition Specialists and assumed the Chairmanship of the ANA when the organizations formally joined in 2019. He will continue to serve on the ANA Scientific Advisory Board and as an informal advisor to ANA leadership.

Dr. Blumberg’s contributions to the field of antioxidants, bioactive compounds, and healthy aging have shaped research, policy, and clinical practice worldwide. As Professor Emeritus at the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts University and former Director of the USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging, he has mentored generations of scientists, authored hundreds of peer-reviewed publications, and advanced evidence-based nutrition with rigor and integrity.

Beyond his academic achievements, Jeff’s collaborative spirit, intellectual generosity, and unwavering commitment to public health have left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege to work with him — whether it was in his role as the Chair of the ANA Board of Directors, a member of the Scientific Advisory Board, speaker at our Summit or friend.

As he steps into this well-deserved new chapter, we extend our heartfelt thanks for his decades of leadership and friendship. It is the privilege of a lifetime to have worked with such a kind, collaborative nutrition science pioneer. Please join us in wishing Jeff and his family health, joy, and new adventures in retirement.
